...Know Your School Day...

Teaching is a great responsibility. It is in the hands of the teachers that the future of the youth depends because teachers share the great task of education.

That is why when our school held the "Know Your School Day",I directly seized the chance of having the experience of becoming a teacher even in just a day.I know that the purpose of this school activity is to appreciate the hard works of the teachers and to make the students realize all the great efforts the teachers exert just to lead their students in the right direction.

I discussed with my fellow classmates in our Social Science class and I really had a great and hard time.It was hard in a way that you need to study the lesson yourself and think of different methods or strategies that you could use in teaching because they say teaching can be instinctive. In other words, lesson planning. There should be manipulation or the skillful handling. That is why before the discussion,I felt nervous of what were going to happen.I am even not sure if they will totally listen or cooperate willingly when I discuss the topic.Considering the fact that teaching demands devotion, humor, understanding and especially hard work.

I had a very great time because I did not expect the class to be very cooperative even if Madame Logarta was outside the room.Everyone listened and did as what we tell them to do.We discussed everything about the ASEAN Summit;the advantages, disadvantages, effects, etc.Every one gave out their feelings about the said international meeting.I am very happy.

I learned that to be a good teacher, one has to be a human being(obviously)first of all and should not make his or her students feel uncomfortable or uneasy, afraid or other unuseful emotions that could destruct the learners. He or she must know the interests of his or her students so the class would not be boring. The teacher must respect the individuality of each and every student and should be willing to accept and try to understand them,as well as their difficulties or problems.I always remember all these.

I just enjoyed every moment of the subject. This is an activity I will be joining maybe thrice in a lifetime.Do know why?My mother used to tell me never to become a teacher because of the fact that teachers have small salaries and that being a teacher is so complicated. She knows because she was a teacher before.ButI consider teachers as heroes because they support and help us achieve and fulfill our goals, become better citizens of the Republic of the Philippines(that is what I learned from our Social Science class),help us meet special challenges( great examples are the equations in our Algebra class) and teachers not just serve as mentors but they can be a very nice and reliable friends. They can give you advices and reminders which can help you a lot. They guide, teach and test us.This KYSD made me realize and aware of what really lies most deeply in the hearts and minds of our loving teachers. After this school activity,I felt satisfied and that the effort that I exerted in being a teacher was very self-rewarding.
